In this part 7 of my Windows 7 tutorial I’ll continue my Desktop Personalization walk about with part 2 - how to create Desktop slide shows using pictures of your choice.

In this part 7 of my Windows 7 tutorial I’ll continue my Desktop Personalization walk about with part 2 - how to create Desktop slide shows using pictures of your choice.

1. Place all the pictures you want to include in your slide show in a sub folder of your Pictures/My Pictures folder.
2. Right click on your Desktop and left click on Personalization.
3. Click on ‘Desktop Background’ on the lower right of the Personalization window.
4. Click on Browse and browse to and click on the sub folder of the Pictures/My Pictures folder in which your pictures are located.
5. By default, all of the pictures in the folder will be selected and included in your slide show presentation. If you decide you do not want all the pictures in the folder to be included, clear the check box for each picture you want to remove from the slide show.

Note: It goes without saying you must select more than one picture. If only one picture is selected the slide show ends and the selected picture becomes the desktop background.

6. Click an item in ‘Picture position:’ to adjust the appearance of your pictures in the slide show. I suggest you start with ‘Fill’, then save the slide show and see how your slide show pictures appear. If they need adjusting try Stretch, Tile, or Center.

Note: Be sure to ‘Save changes’ each time you make a change.

7. Now adjust ‘Changes pictures every:’ to a time of your choosing.
8. Check the ‘Shuffle’ check box if you want the pictures to appear in a random order.
9. Click ‘Save changes’.

You can create as many personal slide shows as you want and vary them as you want, when you want.

A heads up for those who appreciate and collect extraordinary photography.

Now that you know how to access the Desktop Themes that came with Windows and those that you can download, perhaps you would like to collect some or all of the Theme photos as individual pictures.

Go To: C:\Users\yourusername\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Theme.

The individual photos that appear in each of your slide shows will be located in folders. Select and copy the photos to a folder in your Pictures\My pictures folder.

If you do become a slide show enthusiast you can combine theme photos in current Theme folders or using the directions above, create a new slide show using selected Theme photos.

I’ve created many spectacular personal slide shows using these extraordinary photos.

Here’s wishing you a Good Boot.
