Because I’ve discovered an extraordinary holiday software offer and because of the many requests from Good Booters asking for a recommendation for a high speed multi page scanner, I’m going to depart from my customary criteria of recommending only general interest and pocketbook friendly products.
Whether you’re a serious writer or just have respect for the King’s English, I recommend you investigate White Smoke (www.whitesmoke.com). In my opinion it’s the most convenient, powerful and user friendly software for editing and proofreading word processioning documents.
White Smoke’s basic general writing version features:

You may be embarrassed at the editing suggestions made by White Smoke but if you’re a serious writer you’ll not be disappointed with their product.
My recommendation for a high speed document scanner is Fujitsu ScanSnap S510. Press the Start button and it’ll digitize both sides of a document in a single pass, in color and at an amazing speed of up to 18 pages per minute.

Although a bit pricey at $400, I can assure you if you need a high speed document scanner ScanSnap is worth considering.
